Summary Wheel World is a co-op adventure racing game from Messhof and Annapurna Interactive. The game takes on a gradual momentum as it is the debut 3D game created by this company. The game is scheduled to be released on 23 July 2025 for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

Play structurePlayers play Wheel World from the third-person perspective. You play as Kat, a cyclist “chosen by ancient cycling spirits” who’s on the hunt for fabulous bike fragments she can use to perform a ritual that will save the world. Players can also free-ride their way through multiple mini-games with Kat’s gang as they follow them around the Kennedy town meeting interesting, new, and bizarre characters. As the story unfolds, players will gain advantages by racing other characters or executing sweet tricks on Kat’s bike. The bike is also highly customizable with various colored parts that look even better than stock, and can help improve its performance through the rocky terrain.

Story and Setting

Plot One ordinary bicycle-crazy girl, Kat, from one day to the next after waking up finds herself surrounded by trees in Tree World on Wheel World. She immediately becomes intrigued by a mysterious building when she wakes up. She approaches the building, which appears like it has been locked for eons. But when Kat steps onto the building’s entrance, the giant stone gate with a skull in its middle rolls and allows her to get in. Curious, Kat goes into the building.

Right when she goes into the place, she sees a bike off to the left side of a large closed sewerage pipe that is blocking her view just off in front of it. A strange greenish light is illuminating the bike, which is eerily shaking by itself. Kat comes near the bicycle and a skull face emerges from the bicycle and introduces itself as "Skully" straightaway. Well it turns out that Skully is a bike demon, and pairs with a furious spirit in leading spirits to the moon and back using the help of a Legendary Rider. This is the “record of life”. Skully refers to the chain of life as:

"A sparkling slipstream linking Wheel World and the Moon"

It seems the chain of life will not keep on turning without Skully. But he has hit a snag. The mythic components of his mythic bike had been stolen. He can't "Travel the sewer of spirits, travel to Mount Send, perform the great shift and keep Wheel World moving another gear" without them. This would cause the chain of life to be scuppered and the world to perish. Skully contributes to this discussion by informing them that his former friend had long since left him. So he asks Kat to go with him.

Kat agrees to do the challenge, although Skully tells her that only riders with lots of "Rep" can find their way through the Sewer of Spirits. And so Kat decides to embark on the adventure of a lifetime and earn Rep— willing to follow Skully, into his spirit journey. This perilous journey will culminate in a ceremony to prevent the Wheel World from destruction.
