Grounded 2: Smaller, Broader, and Ready to Lift
Survival has been downsized once again, with Obsidian returning to the tiny world of miniaturisation for Grounded 2, a new adventure that is heading into early access on July 29 for $30. The game’s events take place two years after the original Grounded, and the four teens — Max, Hoops, Pete and Willow — have been shrunk once more into a big new location in Brook Hollow Park.

The creators have confirmed that there's plenty of content even starting at which everyone in the game, act one, is the full map from which Grounded. Players will have the opportunity to investigate key landmarks like a slanted-over ice cream cart, hot dog vendor and community fun and games table in their attempts to return to normal size. The story will follow up a riddle from the first game that was never resolved and feature returning characters Burgle and Dr. Tully at the time of this latest downsizing fiasco.

New Friends
and Calamities
New Friends and New Calamities
The park is teeming with life, and not all of it’s friendly. Old favorites, like red ants and orb weaver spiders, have made a return (the spiders come with an upgraded move set that includes blocking and a web-trap attack). But watch out for all-new, fearsome foes
Scorpions: This surprising new enemy is likely to be able to do massive damage.
Caterpillars: Huge bugs that seem to fire shells in an ordnance-type of volley.
Cockroaches: Masters of survival, these baddies can also deflect incoming attacks.
Praying Mantis: Last game the mantis was a master, now it floats around as a standard wanderer.
But some insects are on your team! A feature that was most-often requested around launch of the original, is finally realized with the new Buggys system, where players can become friends and even ride some bugs. At the early access launch, there will be two styles of strollers on offer.
Red Soldier Ant: An all-purpose mount that assists with travel is also a complete slacker for gathering and transporting gear. You also can keep 2 red worker ants to assist you.
Orb Weaver Spider: This bad boy won't help with structure or collecting, but is a mobility hustler and can bounce you all over the park quickly and to new places with its special ability to make temporary web walkways. It comes with some good combat mileage too, as it's able to screen, stun and immobilize bad guys from a distance with its web attack.

Redesigned
Systems
Redesigned Systems
Grounded 2 changes around some of the core systems to make things better.
Player Archetypes: Players may now also specialize into roles — Warrior, Ranger, Mage or Rogue given the munitions and armor drafted and equipped. Brand new to the game is the Mage archetype with a projectile based magic system.
Mutations: The returning mutation system provides even more varied gameplay, allowing you to play the way you want with out-of-combat modifiers both unresistant and active. You’ll see new options specifically connected to the new player archetypes.
Omni-Tool: A new tool ‘quality of life’ feature implemented where axe / hammer / shovel / wrench get transformed into one tool to clear inventory space.
While basic survival tools like casting and erecting remains a mystery, the designers believe they've smoothed down the edges of the systems to make it more fun and less rough around the edges. The new game will also be on Game Pass Ultimate and day one PC Game Pass.
