Grounded 2: Smaller, Broader, and Ready to Lift

Grounded 2: Smaller, Broader, and Ready to Lift
Grounded 2

Obsidian Entertainment is returning to the pint-sized world of survival with Grounded 2, a new adventure launching into early access on July 29 for $30. The events of this game unfold two years after the original Grounded, with the four teens — Max, Hoops, Pete, and Willow — shrunk down once again in a new, massive position in Brook Hollow Park.

Grounded 2

The inventors have verified that the starting area of the game, Act One, is the size of the entire background map from the first Grounded. Players will be able to explore crucial milestones like a sloped-over ice cream cart, a hot dog stand, and a community fun and games table as they try to find their way back to normal size. The story will continue the connected riddle from the first game, with returning characters Burgle and Dr. Tully present at the time of the new downsizing accident.

New Friends and New Calamities

The park is bulging with life, and not all of it's friendly. Familiar bugs like red ants and orb weaver spiders are back, with the spiders entering an enhanced move set that includes blocking and a web-trap attack. But be on high alert for brand-new, intimidating enemies

  • Scorpions: This shocking new adversary will probably deal great damage.
  • Caterpillars: Massive bugs that appear to shoot shells in an ordnance-like fashion.
  • Cockroaches: Known for their survival chops, these adversaries can block incoming attacks.
  • Praying Mantis: Unlike the first game, where it was a master, the mantis is now a standard, roaming foe.

But some bugs are on your side! One of the most largely- requested features from the first game is coming to life with the new Buggys system, which allows players to befriend and mount certain bugs. At the early access launch, two types of strollers will be available.

  • Red Soldier Ant: This all-purpose mount helps with traversal, but can also be used as an absolute idler for gathering and transporting accoutrements. It can indeed be used to retain up to two red worker ants to help you.
  • Orb Weaver Spider: While it does not help with structure or gathering, the spider is a mobility hustler that can quickly move you across the park and access new areas with its capability to cut special web walkways. It also brings strong combat mileage with its capability to screen, stun, and incapacitate adversaries with a ranged web attack.

Redesigned Systems

Grounded 2 revamps several core systems to enhance the gameplay experience.

  • Player Archetypes: Players can now lean into distinct places — Warrior, Ranger, Mage, or Rogue — based on the munitions and armor they draft and equip. The Mage archetype is a brand-new addition that brings a projectile-based magic system to the game.
  • Mutations: The returning mutation system lets you customize your playstyle with unresistant and active bonuses that can be upgraded. You will find new options that are tied directly to the new player archetypes.
  • Omni-Tool: A new quality-of-life feature combines the axe, hammer, shovel, and wrench into a single tool, cutting down on inventory clutter.

While some survival rudiments like casting and erecting are still under wraps, the inventors are confident they have streamlined the systems to make them more pleasurable and refined. The new game will also support Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one.
