What Players Are Saying About Dying Light: The Best
The Good
A lot of players are genuinely surprised at how well the game runs. One comment put it simply:
“Props devs! A game that actually runs on release! AND WELL!”
Another player echoed the same feeling:
“The game runs stupidly well.”
Performance aside, the biggest praise is that it feels like a proper sequel to the first Dying Light, not DL2. Someone wrote:
“This is the actual sequel to Dying Light 1. This game literally screams ‘we messed up with Dying Light 2 so let’s go back to what made the first one so special.’ Welcome back, Kyle Crane. Good night and good luck.”
Plenty of fans are loving that Crane is back and that the game brings back the vibe of the original. Another comment summed it up with:
“Feels like playing DL1 again omg. WE ARE SO BACK CRANE ENJOYER.”
Players also say combat feels tighter than DL2, parkour is satisfying, and overall it’s polished. One first impression was:
“The combat feels GREAT compared to Dying Light 2… parkour feels neat and satisfying… feels VERY polished so far. I like it ”
The Mixed and The Bad
Not everyone is impressed. Some feel the game is shallow, especially with the new “Beast mode.” One blunt review said:
“Lackluster skill tree, surprisingly shallow gimmick (beast mode… punch things and occasionally ground smash, how original).”
A few also complained about bugs and performance quirks:
“Game doesn’t close when you quit… stutters like crazy after the tutorial.”
Others feel the world itself is bland and not fun to explore. One player, 11 hours in, wrote:
“My main issue is it is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring. The story feels bland, the world is boring to run around. Cars don’t even feel useful half the time. 11 hours in and I can’t say I enjoyed more than 10 minutes worth.”
Graphics are another sticking point. Even on a high-end PC, one player felt it didn’t look up to par:
“Even running it on an RTX 5090… the graphics look outdated, lighting and textures feel flat… zombie physics are a big letdown.”
The Overall Vibe
So far, the community is split. Some are just thrilled to have a smooth, polished Dying Light experience that feels like the real sequel to DL1. Others think it’s bland, overpriced, and a step backward from DL2 in visuals and depth.
As one player put it best:
“If you love Kyle Crane’s story, you might find something here… but full price? nah, this feels like a $30 game maybe.”
On Steam, the game has almost 6000 Reviews as of writing of this article and it's been a day only, and out of them 90% reviews are positive, so this makes it a really good game as other recently released games have really bad optimization and performance issues, so on personal note I think it's a good start really for "Techland" and Dying Light franchise.
